Update: Candido's 1st hearing was scheduled for August 21 but this week, that case was rescheduled for October 10th. The delay is disheartening news. The family is being strong, and working through this new development. We hope for more information soon. Thank you to everyone who has shared this story or contributed a donation. Your care and attention means so much to us.
Hi everyone, I am an employee of the Kiawah Island Club.
Recently, one of our team members, Candido , was detained by ICE and sent to a detention center in Georgia. We are now waiting for a hearing to be scheduled to see if we can start his release process. It is difficult to understand how a simple traffic infraction resulted in Candido being taken from his family and his coworkers.
Candido is an excellent employee with legal working status. He comes nightly to work hard at a job many are unwilling to do. Candido's wife Lisa is struggling to keep a strong face for her husband and teenage daughter. They have spent their accrued savings retaining a lawyer, with only enough funds to support Candido through the initial legal process.
We hope to assist Lisa and her family in gaining funds to ensure continued legal support, as well as making sure Lisa can meet her monthly bills with one less income. Every bit helps.
Thank you,
Corina Adams
