I’m determined to not let Dida go down and form a team of support to empower her to continue her road to freedom.
For the past 2 and a half years, I’ve watched Candida's situation get direr and direr. On June 23 I got the call that I have been dreading for years now(actually she was alive, I have been dreading the call that she was killed) Candida's husband had almost killed her. She by the grace of God was able to escape after 25 minutes or more of being beaten and call 911. She was taken to the local hospital and released after verifying there were no internal injuries. She was able to get home get into a vehicle and seek shelter. For 3 days she couldn't pull herself up from the bed.
Since that day God has continued to make a way for her to heal the physical wounds, take her dogs and a few items of clothing, stay hidden from her husband, and obtain an order of protection. Her husband has desperately tried to find her and continues to violate every provision of the court order regarding finances, no contact, and staying out of the home. She is receiving coordinated assistance from counselors and people who are guiding her through the process of staying safe and obtaining a divorce. Until that happens he will continue to keep all financial resources from her and this is where we come in.
Anything you donate will be given to Candida to be used at her discretion towards things like:
- Legal and court fees to get a divorce. What is commonly called a “contentious” divorce is often an abuser using the legal system to further torture their partner. Sadly, this often cannot be worked out in mediation and often go to trial, costing tens of thousands of dollars.
- Food for her and the 3 dogs, utilities, vehicle expenses, storage(for some of the items she doesn't want to be destroyed in the home), medical and dental costs (her dentures were broke during the last assault). As you can imagine, the ongoing legal war can become costly and she has NO access to their money.
Lack of funds has meant Dida has had to rely on the grace of the few friends who know what is happening for everything.
Please, if you would be willing to take me out to lunch or get me a coffee for my birthday, donate to her instead.
