My name is Candice Elliott, and I am raising money for my husband Dustin Elliott, who has been battling dystonia, ataxia, and lock jaw for the past five years. And his cerebellum is deteriorating worse as time goes on.His illness has taken away his ability to feed himself, dress himself, open packages, or bathe. I have had to stop working my health company for over two years to be here for him, as we have no other support. He receives disability, but it takes everything we have just to cover our rent. I have reached out to our local social services, but they said there is no help for him, and we don't meet requirements. As everyone knows, the cost of living and rent is so high now, and we are struggling to make ends meet, especially since I care for my husband 24/7.
I am doing everything in my power to stand beside my husband during his battles and keep him out of assisted living. That is no place for a loved one, especially your own husband who is only 32 years old. We have no support from our families, as our parents are on disability themselves. The funds raised will help us with our power bill, food, travel to specialists, household needs, and medical bills. Your support will help us stay together and give my husband the care he needs at home. He also had to get a feeding tube I had to learn how to do.Im all that is keeping him from assisted living. Our rent our power bill our insurance our food
and gas exceeds our monthly budget they took his medicaid and we also have to travel to duke and Winston-Salem for outstanding appointments He also is aspirating and is at choke risk and can never be left alone.
Your support means the world to me and my husband at this difficult time. Thank you for reading our story, and God bless you all.
