Help Candice With Medical Expenses

Hi. Around Labor Day (September) 2022, I all of a sudden began to lose the ability to walk. Within a span of two weeks, I went from walking with a crutch to using a wheelchair. I also was experiencing numbness all over my body and a pins and needles feeling in my hands and feet. By this time, I had gone to two hospitals; one dismissed my symptoms as being “psychiatric in nature,” and the other stated that my symptoms were the result of a vitamin deficiency. They also refused to grant my request to do a MRI on my brain. A few days after being discharged from hospital #2, I began feeling a burning sensation in my feet. Another doctor that I see regularly had suggested going to another hospital for another opinion. An ambulance was called the same night and I was on my way to hospital #3. I was admitted and given multiple tests. All were negative. A few days later, I woke up with blurry vision and the feeling that my fingers on my left side were spread out and could not touch each other. During a neurological exam, the doctor asked me to raise my left leg. I raised what I thought was my left leg, but was actually my right. I couldn’t tell the difference. My speech was also a bit slow and slurred. The Neurologist ordered a MRI. The next day, I was told that I had suffered four mini strokes at age 30. I spent a total of two months in the hospital, unable to work my job as a Special Education Teacher. During that span, I began inpatient rehabilitation (physical therapy and occupational therapy). I am now doing physical therapy and occupational therapy on an outpatient basis. In the coming new year, bills will begin to add up. On top of the therapies I will need to continue, there are specialists that I will need to see. I still cannot walk unassisted and require 24/7 supervision. This has taken an emotional and financial toll on my mom, dad, and I. My job denied my request to telework, so I am stuck with non-paid leave as of now. My diagnoses include Axonal Sensorimotor Neuropathy; Leg Weakness, Bilateral; Thiamin Deficiency; and Stroke. Any amount you can contribute is very much appreciated. Thank You.
