I was diagnosed in August 2020 with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Whew that is still hard to stomach! I didn’t know nor did I have a clue as to what was wrong with me at the time. I was working and laughing everyday and then wham! Two emergency surgeries and a two month hospital stay later, I am still fighting. I dare not complain because some people at this stage never get to tell their story. I understand now one reason how people can die from this disease. When you can’t pay for treatment you can’t get the treatments needed for survival, bottom line. Without treatment for someone like me the disease spreads quickly to other parts of your body and by then it’s too late. I have insurance but as we all know they only cover but so much then the rest is up to the patient. With this pandemic, it has made a seemingly bad situation worst. I am unable to return to work currently due to treatment and an immunocompromised system. I was denied internal benefits with my company (a major corporation) because I transferred from one state to another to help my mom after my dad passed away. Imagine going through all of this and no income. I have tapped into every resource I could find only to discover that if you receive assistance in one way you won’t qualify for anything else. This has been the hardest journey that I have ever had to experience. So now I am asking for help from the world. No amount donated is too small. I just want to be able to continue my treatment and pay for my meds. I have life bills that come with Cancer and those have to be paid too. One med for me cost $700 just one. I know there are so many people who need help out there. I was at one time one of those people who tried to help everyone and now I am the one standing in need. My name is Candice and I thank you in advance.
