Our family is facing something incredibly heavy right now. My mom—who already fought cancer once and made it through—is now being told she may have to face it all over again. We just left her pulmonologist appointment, and everything is happening so fast. She has a brain MRI scheduled this Friday, and we’ve been referred to oncology both locally and at Vanderbilt. The words, the appointments, the waiting… it’s all overwhelming in a way that’s hard to even explain. What hurts just as much is knowing that on top of the fear and uncertainty, she’s carrying the weight of how to afford all of this. She lives on Social Security and gets by on very little. Even with Medicare, the costs for scans, specialist visits, and treatments are more than she can handle. And now, with trips to Vanderbilt and ongoing care ahead, it’s becoming more than our family can keep up with alone. If you know my mom, you know her heart. She is the kind of person who gives even when she has nothing left to give. She doesn’t ask for help. She never has. And that’s exactly why I’m asking for her. She should be focusing on fighting this—on staying strong, on being here with her family—not lying awake at night worrying about how she’s going to pay for the care she needs. We are asking for help to take even a small piece of that weight off her shoulders. Every donation will go toward her medical care, scans, travel to Vanderbilt, and anything she needs to get through this fight. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this. That alone could make all the difference. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us stand beside her during the hardest moment of her life. We truly cannot do this without you.
