HELP CANDACE REBUILD HER HOME

Donation protected
On Monday December 13th, 2021, our dear friend Candace Sampson was awarded her home by the courts, after a long, drawn-out divorce process that has spanned the past three years.

As she drove up to the home where she raised her two beautiful daughters, she was envisioning a new beginning, maybe even a chance to move back in and unite her family under one roof.

What she found when she entered the house was shocking and distressing—a basement literally floating in three feet of water, dangerous black mold growing on every surface and into the fixtures and ductwork, and a furnace broken beyond repair. The hydro had been deliberately cut off at the source, and the damage is most certainly intentional.

This has left her scrambling to find a solution before the home is repossessed by the bank on Christmas Day. The cost to undo the damage from what has likely been months of neglect is uncertain, and initial estimates have been upwards of $300,000.

We are raising money to cover the immediate costs of repairs that must be made so that the home is safe to enter. This includes:

- Pumping out the basement flood
- Having the black mold removed
- Cleaning up the debris
- Hiring a professional to assess the structural integrity of the house
- Inspecting the well water and septic system
- Replacing the HVAC system
- Assessing the damage to the pool and hot tub.

Candace and her two daughters do not deserve this. It is the reality of our broken court system that many women (and men) are left in significant debt and held hostage by a process that does not take into account the needs and well-being of families. It should have never come to this.

With one week to go until Christmas and a decision from the bank, we are committed to helping Candace and are asking our wonderful community to offer their financial support. Any little bit counts and is greatly appreciated. We expect our fundraising goal to rise, and we will be updating everyone as we go. Let's help Candace and her girls rebuild their beautiful home.

This is where they should be celebrating Christmas this year:
