Help Candace Rebuild After Flash Flood

My name is Candace Payne and flash flooding ruined my forever home Memorial Day weekend 2024.

After working multiple jobs and caring for my ill mother until her passing, I purchased my forever home as a first time homebuyer in Nov. 2020 with a fixed rate interest rate of 0.125%! I completed a full remodel of the home in 2022; with windows replaced the flowing year in 2023.

May 26 & 27, 2024 2 feet of flash flood waters entered my home causing irreparable damage. My home is not in a floodplain so I did not have flood insurance included in my homeowners insurance policy. Unfortunately, I have exhausted all of my options and assistance from TEMA/FEMA and my local government has been nonexistent.

The flash flooding has also affected my aunt, as she rented the lower level of my home. Her renter’s insurance claim was also denied due to no flood coverage. As a family, we have lost the remainder of my mother belongings as the storage totes in the garage, flooded as well.

My current interest rate and mortgage payment is impossible to get in today’s market so all funds raised will go towards my new forever home.
