Candace Simmons is a brilliant artist, model, and chemistry graduate from Sonoma State, and above all, a very close friend with the hugest heart in the world. For years, Candace was the cheerleader for everyone around her, always lifting others up with her vibrant spirit and kindness. But in January 2025, everything changed. Her health began to decline rapidly due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a complex and debilitating condition.

Candace is now unable to digest food, and her weight has dropped to a dangerous level. She can no longer work or live the life she once loved. The daily challenges she faces are overwhelming, and the specialized care she needs is far beyond what she or her loved ones can afford. She requires an EDS gastrointestinal specialist, daily care, and support for basic living expenses. On top of that, she must travel to hospital facilities far from home to access the treatment that could save her life.

Right now, Candace is scared for her life. I've never seen her like this—usually she's so strong and holds it together, but when your friend is crying in your arms, afraid they're going to die, you feel compelled to help.
