Camryn and Scott are our good friends and neighbors and we wanted to let you know what has been going on and how you can help.
In November, one of their girls started having significant neurological issues. Because of the severity of her issues, the pediatric neurologist suggested they test their daughter for mold, as well as, look into a mold inspection to see if mold in their home was the culprit.
Their daughter tested very positive for mycotoxins and through investigation they found mold in multiple places in their home. Over the past six weeks the Minceys have had their entire house remediated by a mold remediation company.
The good news is that their home has been deemed mold free by two inspectors last week! They will be able to move back in as soon as drywall and floors are complete. They have had to throw away all their furniture, anything upholstered, rugs, carpet, lamp shades, curtains, books, soft toys, ceiling fans and 95% of their clothes.
The remediation company had to go down to the studs in some cases to cut all the mold out and tear up the flooring and parts of their bathrooms.
Most insurance policies don't pay for mold remediation unless there is a water event (like a pipe bursting) and their home insurance hasn't and won't cover anything.
Their out of pocket expenses are estimated to be $175,000 for the remediation and the cost of putting their home back together alongside medical bills.
The immediate need is for funds to begin to put their house back together. The first of the funds will be used to pay for new flooring (currently there is only sub flooring upstairs) and the repairs that friends and family aren't able to help with.
Please consider giving any amount to get the Minceys back in their home which is now the safest place possible for their family. Thank you in advance!
