Admiral Grace Hopper demands your attention, humans!

And now that you've been drawn in by the pretty grey-and-white tuxedo cat, it's time to get serious.

We're Camille and Ashley, a married couple living in Asheville, NC.

Just as we were about to finish clawing our way out of the abyss that we’d fallen into last summer, Ashley got fired from her job for being a transgender woman. Because we live in a state that has no anti-discrimination law, her now-former employer can get away with that--and we cannot appeal (believe me, we’ve tried).

As a result of the firing, we are now at immediate risk of becoming homeless. All we are asking for is enough to keep us in our home for April, June, and July. We’ve sold everything that we can in order to stay in our home for March, but we literally have nothing else to sell.

Our rent is $2000/month, and utilities are an additional $400. That’s the best we can find here in Western NC unless we want to live in an area where our lives would be in immediate danger (the area is still cleaning up from Helene, even almost 2 years on).

And so, we need your help. I know that things are rough for everyone given the way this country has gone in the last couple of years, but anything that you can spare--even a signal-boost--is most welcome and gratefully accepted.
