8-year-old Cami has been through a lot in her young life. She was diagnosed with brain
cancer, alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, behind her right eye at age 3, and has undergone
several series of chemo and surgeries. In the end, the doctors were not able to save her eye, but the cancer is now in remission, with a good prognosis for a cure. Due to the intensity of the chemotherapies she has sustained heart damage and will need to be on heart meds for the rest of her life.
Cami is now ready for the reconstruction of her eyelid and preparation for a prosthetic eye. Due to the intensity of the chemotherapies she has sustained heart damage and will need to be on heart meds for the rest of her life.
Cami lives in Mexico and has received wonderful care through the Mexican Public Health System. Under the Public Health System, the treatments and pending surgery have been at no cost to Cami’s family, unfortunately, they will not pay for the prosthetic eye. Cami’s family cannot afford the $3000 needed to purchase the eye. So we hope you can help Cami with your donation.
At 8 years old, Cami needs to look as normal as possible. Some of the kids bully her and she has had a hard time at school. This eye will make a huge difference
in her self-esteem and appearance.
While the Public Health system has paid for Cami’s medical care it has been a huge
hardship as the care has required her to be in Mexico City, 180 miles from her home in San Miguel de Allende. The system doesn’t pay for transportation or housing for her mother while Cami is hospitalized. Any additional you can provide to help mom is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
