Help Cameron Save his Home

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is River and I’m raising funds to provide emergency assistance to my brother. Cameron is 59 years old, on the autism spectrum, and physically disabled. Cameron never married and has no children. He recently had a pacemaker and defibrillator implanted. His doctor told him he can no longer drive, which has caused him to lose his job as a deliveryman. In addition to health challenges, Cameron struggles with hoarding and recently received an eviction notice due to the hoarding and his inability to make necessary repairs to his plumbing, which is currently not working.

Cameron has asked me for help and I am Cameron’s only able-bodied family member. We are working with his mobile park manager to keep him in his current housing. His manager has agreed not to evict him, if we have the plumbing repaired and clean the home. Cameron has agreed to seek treatment for his mental health challenges and is taking steps every day to improve his situation. He's applied for Social Security Disability, but currently has no funds nor income for these repairs and clean up. At this time Social Security offices are overwhelmed and it could be as long as six months before we see any results in the process. As he's already in low-income housing, we are advocating to keep his affordable living situation. His rent and utilities for the next 6 months are estimated to be about $3600. The plumbing repairs have been estimated at $2000. The clean-up and repairs are going to be done by Action Junk Hauling and they are charging $6900. The minimum amount that we need to raise for Cameron to stay in his home and make progress toward self-sufficiency is $12,500.

I'm single and self-employed with no children. I serve my community as a hair stylist and work to facilitate healing and spiritual circles. As I live on a limited income, I do not have the funds to support my brother. I've also recently taken on responsibility for our elderly mother as she transitions toward assisted living. And I've been encouraged by my friends to reach out for financial support with this GoFundMe page.

I've been watching out for Cameron since we were young. Its always been hard for him, but he's managed to live independently all these years. My hope is that he can receive the help he needs to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. We need your help. I'm grateful to our friends and our community for your generous donations that go to support those who are most vulnerable among us. This is truly an act of compassion and mercy. Thank you!

Many blessing to you and your families! River
