On January 3, 2022, around 10:15 pm, my nephew Cameron was in a life altering motorcycle accident while on his way home. When going through an intersection a truck turned in front of Cameron and his passenger. We don’t yet know the full details of the accident, but his parents were told his bike caught fire and Cameron was pulled out from under it by good Samaritans. Both Cameron and his friend were rushed to OU Medical Center in critical condition.

 

By God’s grace the boys are alive, but they both sustained life-altering trauma. Cameron has numerous injuries including fractures in his face, skull, both thumbs, both legs, pelvis, and compound fractures in both arms. He also sustained severe third degree burns to both legs, most severe at his feet, which will require extensive treatment. Cameron has already had several surgeries with many more in the coming days and weeks.

 

Cameron is a kind-hearted, witty, and active 17-year-old who is very outgoing, friendly, and sociable. As a follower of Christ, Cameron was very active within his church group before the pandemic hit. Some of Cameron’s hobbies include playing games with friends, spending time outside, and skateboarding.

 

We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community to ask for assistance with unexpected and uncovered medical expenses, including physical therapy and adaptive equipment needed for him to recover. This last year has been tough on the family financially including the retirement of Cameron’s mother, Angela, from the military. She has yet to find new employment in today’s crazy labor market.
