Umber of tests and blood work. He needed a bone marrow biopsy. The results were terrifying. My nephew, my love, has Aplastic Anemia. This is a rare disease where your bone marrow doesn't make enough, or in his case, any blood cells for the body to fight off infections or illnesses. Most of his cells and marrow are being replaced by fat in his little 5 year old body. There is a long journey ahead of him, and he may need a bone marrow transplant. His mother has to quit her job as he can not go to school anymore, and requires around the clock care and doctors visits.
