Hey! I'm Cameron.
I love animals, being outside, playing rugby, rock climbing, listening to music, and blueberry muffins.
I've just graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with BAs in Zoology and Environmental Science. Yay! But I am struggling to find a job so that I can move away from home. Boo!
I guess my story starts way back before I really had any consciousness. All I've ever known is emotionally and physically abusive parents. I'll spare the details. It's been a long 22 years of enduring what I would never wish upon my least favorite people. After many domestic violence, child and animal abuse reports to the local police, numerous CPS home visits and social workers, my abusers/parents have always managed to lie their way out of trouble. Since I'm over age, there is no longer any legal action I can take. However, I also do not have the funds to remove myself from this situation despite my best efforts.
I'm kind of at my wits end and just want to actually start my life.
I've been applying to jobs for months, but never receive a positive response if I get one at all. My goal is to find any steady paying job (fingers crossed another job in veterinary medicine or ecology research) and an affordable place to live near Columbus, OH where I know I have safe places and support systems. I've been selling a lot of what I own and picking up odd jobs when I can, but the paper isn't adding up the way I hoped. I've begun to consider loans as well, but what even is APR?
I'm not great at asking for help, but I think I can finally see light at the end of this extremely long and dark tunnel. I'm asking for any assistance to help me make it out the other side. Any accumulated funds go to my savings until I land a steady job. Then they'll be used to help me secure a place to live and cover moving costs. Other things on the list include a phone bill so they can no longer track me. As well as health insurance because, of course, my mother took me off the family Medicaid health insurance after a quarrel.
Anything you can offer is more than enough and means an immense amount to me, you have no idea. I have a list of people who took me in on nights it wasn't safe to be home that I am forever grateful for, and probably owe my life to. Just by taking time to read this and considering helping me out, I've added you to that list too. Thank you so so much for supporting me.
