Help Camden recover from brain surgery

My name is Gabbie Hennen and I’m starting this go fund me on behalf of my dear friend and coworker Jess and her son Camden to help with medical bills, groceries, anything they will need.

Camden is a middle schooler at South East Polk and very active in school sports and activities!

Camden was taken to the ER on 4/2. After his ER visit and spinal tap, it was confirmed that Cam is fighting both MONO and viral meningitis from the HHB6 virus. It was confirmed through and MRI that he had a bacterial abscess and staph infection and brain surgery was needed. He has been given antibiotics but they are very hard on kidneys so they will start with a small dose. It is undetermined if he has MRSA as well.

Jess is a single mother with 3 boys and will be spending the next couple of weeks if not months to be with Camden and help him recover from this medical emergency. It will be a long road to recovery but the doctors reassured that Cam will get better with time!!

No donation it too big or small, anything will help as they navigate this long journey and scary time!!

UPDATE 4/7 from Camden’s mom Jess:

The news keeps getting better and better!!!! Just spoke to the Doctors and here are a few things:

1. Cam is no longer in renal failure!!! His creatinine levels are NORMAL!!!

2. The abscess that was aspirated and removed in his left frontal lobe is completely gone other than post op swelling per MRI!

3. They identified the Bacteria that caused this and fortunately the antibiotics that he's been on are specifically for that strain! So he'll continue his 3 antibiotics and will ho home w 2 for up to 6 weeks!

4. Cams speech is improving each day and it's easier to walk and form sentences.

5. He's hungry and drinking tons of orange juice! He says he wants a lifetime supply!!

6. While we may still remain in ICU, he's no longer considered critical!!!

Even though what happened to Cam was a one in a million fluke, this is the best case scenario!!! Our boy will come home and he'll be the same amazing Cam we all love, cherish, and adore!!!!
