Help Cam & Jules Flood Recovery
Donation protected
Many of you know, or know of, my parents Cameron and Julie. They have lived and worked on the NSW Far South Coast for twenty years, and continue to be kind, generous, committed members of their community. They are proud people, who would never ask for help, so I’m asking for them.
My parents moved to Mogo five years ago. Since then, they have endured the bushfires, COVID-19, and the recent floods.
They we’re incredibly lucky on New Years Eve 2019/2020 when the bushfires hit. Though their house was spared, they lost fences, and much natural beauty surrounding their home. They spent 27 days without electricity, and did everything within their power to help the community they so love being a part of.
Then COVID hit, and their wherewithal took another blow. They suffered serious financial insecurity, and have only recently started finding their way forward again.
Last Friday, the 10 December 2021, disaster struck again. At 5:30am, whilst my dad was out working, Mum awoke to water lapping at their back door. The water rose to over a metre in height, and whilst they had suffered minor loss during the fires, they weren’t so lucky this time.
They have lost the entire contents of their shed and yard, plus furniture, tools, fridges, and memorabilia from their and their children’s youth. This has been an incredible blow to their resolve and mental health. The cleanup process has begun, however it is a mammoth task, one that I as their daughter am trying to assist with in any way I can.
By donating to this fund, you will be helping them get back up again, begin drying out their floors, and begin drying their eyes. The stress and pain this has caused them is enormous, and anything you can spare will help my family to regain what they can.
My parents have always been good people, and if you have had the pleasure of knowing them you know this to be true. They go out of their way to help others, they welcome people into their home, they always have a full fridge and a cold can of beer for anyone who asks, and for those who don’t.
Please help us give back to these wonderful resilient humans, and begin to restore a little of their life again.
