Cameron is 12 years old from Prairie Du Sac. He attends Sauk Prairie Middle School. He was born with Hypo Plastic Left Heart Syndrome. Meaning his left side of Heart did not develop. He has had FIVE open heart surgeries and is currently on a waiting list for a transplant. He was also born without a spleen and his organs misplaced.
On Wednesday he had flu symptoms. Mom Heather monitored him as she knew that the flu could do a lot of damage to him considering his health conditions. She took vitals and everything looked good. She continued to push fluids and realized something still wasn't right. Thank god for her mother intuition and gut feeling she rushed him to Sauk Prairie Hospital. Thanks to Sauk Hospital the staff and him complaining on headache along with flu they knew he needed a CT Scan. After the results came back they told Heather they needed to Med Flight him to UW Children's Hospital and he would need to surgery asap as his brain was swollen and he had a stroke. UW Children's Hospital has been doing everything they can to get this boy to baseline. Due to the due diligence of the staff at UW Children's Hospital they sent him in for another scan. He is currently in another operation to remove skull to release the pressure of his brain. He has been able to communicate minimally but enough to write he is thirsty.
Heather currently only works part time 3rd shift at Pine Villa Assisted Living in Prairie Du Sac. She can only work part time and night shift due to Cam's needs. They are currently staying with family and friends as she is working on getting a place to fit her family's needs and close enough to a hospital. The UW has been helpful with helping her finding places. Once Cam gets released he will need full time care and she will not be able to work for a long time. As the outcome is still up in the air all prayers are needed and financial help is also needed. Heather is right by her sons side and is not able to work at all. She is a single mom and has never given up the fight to give her son a normal life. She has two other children Adam 15 and Alexia 9. His siblings also attend Sauk Prairie School.
Cam is the Assistant Coach for the 7th Grade Sauk Youth Football Team. His passion is football and love for his school. His favorite football team is Sea Hawks but also has a sweet spot for Da Bears! He also loves playing his Xbox One. He is limited on games but cherishes the ones he does have.
EVERYONE READING THIS we need to rally together to raise money for this family. Any help would be appreciated. Even if you can donate $5.00! The flu is dangerous this year and we have already lost so many. How wonderful would it be for Heather and her family to get the help that they deserve. For when he is able to come home she can provide for him without the worry of feeding her family or paying the next electric bill. Buy him some games for his Xbox and take him to a football game.
I first met Cam when he was 2 or 3. I was holding him in a pool and looking at all his scars and crying. This could of been my son(they are a year apart). He smiles and does his best to live a normal life without worry. He is limited to what he can do as his health has been an issue. He just wants to be a normal boy who loves football.
