Help Calypso the kitty get life-saving surgery!

Meet Calypso, the 6-week stray kitten, rescued from a local neighborhood street on Monday, August 14, 2023. He's 1.2 pounds, has one good eye, and is a Gemini. Likes: Kitten Pate, paper balls to chase in the office, and riding in cars on the driver's neck. Dislikes: a painful erupted eye, fleas, and the eye thing. Marisol, his rescue/foster mom, and Annie, his friend who is deathly allergic to him, took him to the vet immediately. Fleas? Check. But we got that taken care of. Maybe some parasites? Check, but again got the good medicine. Eye? Well, that's why we have created this page. The eye has erupted and has a virus infection and every vet has said it needs to come out. HOWEVER, very few vets will perform surgery on such a young, tiny kitten. The first few vets told us to wait a few weeks until he is at least 2 pounds. They gave us lots of medicine to help, but the eye has continued to get worse. And he is in pain!
We have now found a vet who will take on this surgery, but costs are expected to be about $2500. We've done an echocardiogram to make sure his heart is strong . . . and it is. That means besides only having one eye, he will grow and be a healthy, funny, strong cat. Our dollar goal will cover the surgery and recovery cost. That's it. And trust us, we ain't making money off this little dude.
Can you help us? We are nonprofit workers with budgets but a love of animals. Especially this little bugaboo who comes into our office every day and puts a smile on all our faces.
Please see some pictures below. He's undeniably cute and clearly a fighter!
Thanks for your help.
