We don’t know exactly what caused it, but something created a tear in Calvin’s carotid artery and a series of clots formed that caused a stroke in his brain on July 8th. After a morning climb with his friend near Otter Rock, Calvin began to show the symptoms of a stroke and he was taken by ambulance to Newport and then air-lifted to a hospital in Portland. Due to the trauma of the stroke, his brain swelled and it was necessary to remove a portion of his skull to relieve the swelling. It took some days for the swelling to be brought under control. The swelling is much better now, but he is still unconscious and fighting for his life. Calvin is the father of two beautiful boys, Matteo and Emilio and the husband of Valentina. The Family lives in Spain and was spending the summer at his childhood home in Otter Rock when this unfortunate accident happened. Calvin is a kind soul with a beautiful heart and adventurous spirit. He is loved by so many and he needs your support now more than ever on this journey to recovery. Those who know Calvin know that he does things on his own pace and in his own (often unhurried) way, but in this instance his family and friends are leaning into prayers, thought, mediation, and love for a positive outcome.
