Help Callum fight cancer
Donation protected
Our much loved friend, colleague, brother, uncle, son and Dad, Callum O’Brien, has been struck down with stage 4 lymphoma at just 44. While the prognosis is good, the treatment will be long and brutal. Survival will be very hard going. That means he will be unable to work for at least a year while he battles this terrible disease.
Now that treatment has started, the biggest risk he faces is infection. Having spent the past 3 years following his dream to share his love of the outback with the world through Kinrara Expeditions, and building the business through the pandemic, Cal is now without a permanent residence.
With his family based in Far North Queensland, it’s vital he be set up in a comfortable home where exposure to germs can be tightly managed and he can be close to world-leading treatment at RPA Hospital Sydney. Being close to his much-loved daughter, Mala, is also a priority, Having sufficient funds to support himself so he can focus on his recovery is critical.
I know he hates the idea of asking for financial support. Many people have asked what they can do to help. Taking away his huge worry about how he can manage financially though such long treatment would be the ultimate gift. I know many would want to support him in the best way you can.
We have estimated Callum needs $60,000 to fund his battle with cancer over the next year. Callum is loved by so many people and many want to support him during this difficult time. Contributing to his living and treatment costs, along with love and moral support, is the best help you could provide. Specifically these funds will be used to pay for rent, food, bills and any out of pocket medical expenses.
For those who don’t know me, I’m Yolanda Beattie, Callum’s ex-wife and mother to Mala. I’ll be living close to Callum in Sydney and will be coordinating his care, as needed.
