On the 14th of November, my brother Callum received life changing injuries in a road accident on his much loved motor bike and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital.
He had multiple fractures, including a compound thigh fracture which was operated on.
Devastatingly, the decision was then taken to amputate his left leg from just below knee.
Anyone who knows Callum, knows that he is tough.
Mum has been staying with him in hospital day and night and she says it is humbling to see how he is fighting this, both physically and mentally. But it is going to be a long hard battle for him to get his life back.
Anyone who knows Mum, knows that she is not great at asking for help. The reason we are appealing to you, is so that we can get him home as soon as possible, as being stuck in hospital any longer than he has to be, is really not good for his mental health.
He will be solely in a wheelchair, unable to use crutches, for a minimum of 6 weeks and our house is not accessible for him. We need to change outside doors and inside doors, fit ramps and make the shower accessible for his wheelchair.
