Help Calliope Beat Cancer and Live Happily

Donation protected
Back in October, the Alachua County Animal Services needed storm fosters during Hurricane Milton. My brother, Cole, and I quickly went up to the shelter as soon as they opened. When we arrived, we saw Calliope. Her cement cell read 18. While all the other dogs around barked and growled, sweet Calli just sat there, eyes saddened and quiet. We knew she had to come with us. When we were signing the paperwork, they brought Calli in and she was so excited! She ran right up to us and was ready to go. We brought Calli home and we knew that night, we could not take her back there.

My brother, Cole, knew he had to adopt her. So he did. Everyone at the shelter was very excited to hear that Calliope had finally found a home. She had been there since March 2024.

We brought Calli home and to the vet the next day to make sure she was up to date on everything. She had a mass on her tummy that the vet recommended she should have removed. The following week was her surgery.

On 11/11/2024, they received the pathology: cancer. I could only hear ringing in my ears after I heard that word. She spent so long in the shelter, finally has a warm home, and now cancer?

Calliope has a Grade 2/Low Grade Mast Cell tumor. A malignant tumor but with her low grade, with treatment, she can live a long and happy life! They have referred them to UF Oncology.

So I ask, if there is anything at all that you can spare, it all helps. Even just a share. This is my brother’s best friend in such a short amount of time.

Thank you for your time.
