Help Callie Walk Again: Fund Her Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Kevin and I'm raising funds to help a neighborhood stray cat get leg surgery to repair the torn ligaments in her left hind leg. Without this surgery, her rear leg is unusable and will have to get amputated.
Callie is a stray cat that found her way here over a year ago. When she first arrived, she seemed to be an orphaned young kitten, not more than 3-4 months old. She was shy and skittish at first, darting into the bushes whenever anyone approached her. Many in the neighborhood showed her kindness and love, and before long, she opened up and showed her kind and friendly self.

About 1.5 months ago, on April 5, she gave birth to a litter of 6 kittens. With nowhere to go, she took her kittens into the storm drain where she thought, at the very least, it would be safe and dry. Unfortunately, a few days later, it rained, and all the water rushed into the storm drain with all her babies still underground and too young for them to jump out. A few of the neighbors tried to locate Callie and her kittens but were unable to see any of them in the drain. Then we heard a collection of faint 'meows' from the parking lot and found them nestled in the engine bay of a recently parked car to keep warm and dry. We couldn't bear letting Callie take care of her babies without a safe space. Fortunately, we had just transformed our balcony into a catio for our two cats, so we brought them in that day where she could raise her babies safely and without worry.

Everything was going great. Callie was being well-fed, and in return, she fed her babies well. The kittens were lively and healthy, and before long, they were prancing all over the place in the most adorable way possible. But about a week ago, on May 7, Callie, jumped onto and slipped on the second-floor balcony railing and fell to the concrete walkway below, dislocating her leg and tearing her ligaments in the process.

The vet was able to stabilize her leg with a splint but informed us that if she is to walk on her hind leg again, surgery would be the only way to repair the extensive ligament damage. And it would not be cheap - they estimate the cost to be ~$3,000. I wish I could cover that all myself, but it is too much for me to handle on my own. Which is why I need help from our families, friends, neighbors, and fellow cat lovers to fund Callie's surgery. Our community showed up to take care of Callie a year ago when she was just an orphaned kitten, and it would mean the world if we can show up for her once again.
