Hey y'all--my name is Julia, and I am raising money to pay for my dog Callie's upcoming CCL surgery.
Callie has been my very best friend for the past 10 years. I rescued her in Baton Rouge in 2015 as a small pup, and since then we've traveled the country together and have not been apart for more than a handful of days--she's my baby. She is such a goofy, sassy, sweet girl who LOVES people. She remembers everyone she spends time with, and will often get so excited to the point of peeing when she reunites with old friends. You can always count on Cal to bring the love. If we're not hiking near the falls at our local state park, Callie can be found splashing in her baby pool in our yard, begging for apples and frozen green beans (her favorite), and snuggling with my other dog, Moo. Callie is a true fighter--she has overcome cancer and other health issues, coming out the other side happy, healthy, and with a visible zest for life.
Last month she started to develop a slight limp that progressed to her not being able to bear weight on her back left leg. After a few vet visits involving physical exams, testing, and imaging, multiple vets at her clinic were able to determine the cause: she tore her CCL. The CCL is equivalent to the ACL in people--it connects the femur to the shin bone in a dog’s hind leg, stabilizing the knee joint. She needs surgery to prevent hind leg lameness, pain, and mobility issues. Often dogs end up tearing their other ccl if this issue goes untreated. I hate to see her dealing with pain and discomfort, and it breaks my heart that she cannot currently enjoy the physical activity and adventures that she is used to. Your support means everything to us, and it means that she will be able to enjoy her older years with high quality of life, pain-free, and back on her feet with pep in her step!
I have added her surgery estimate ($4,800) to the photo collection on this page if you would like to see specifics of the cost breakdown. Please consider donating any amount to help cover Callie's medical expenses. 100% of the donations go to help offset the costs of the surgery, relevant vet visits, and the lengthy physical therapy for her healing and recovery. If donating is not realistic for you, I would love and appreciate if you could share this fundraiser to friends, families, coworkers, etc. Any action or amount helps. Thank you for reading, and thank you so much for your support. I will make sure to include updates and pictures of Callie throughout her treatment journey. If you were with Callie right now, she would no doubt be ruthlessly licking your face with love and gratitude. Thanks, y'all <3
