My dog Calli has been my constant companion since I adopted her from the shelter in November 2024. She came from a tough background, having lived with a homeless man and never really knowing the comfort of a stable home. Since she’s been with me, Calli has brought so much joy, laughter, and love into my life. She’s incredibly sweet, smart, and funny—always checking on me, even when I’m just taking a shower, to make sure I haven’t disappeared. She’s great with other dogs and people of all ages, but she struggles with severe separation anxiety and gets very nervous when left alone.
Recently, her anxiety led to a close call: Calli accidentally turned on the kitchen sink and caused a flood in my apartment and the one below. My landlord has made it clear that if I can’t show I’m working to help Calli—through training or doggy daycare—I could be evicted or forced to give her up. Kenneling isn’t an option for her, as it makes her even more anxious, so I’m hoping to get her professional behavioral training to help her feel safe and calm when I’m not home.
Calli has truly saved me as much as I saved her. I struggle with depression and anxiety, and she’s always there to comfort me, get me outside for walks and adventures, and help me through tough days. I can’t imagine life without her, and I want to do everything I can to keep her safe and happy in our home. Any support will go directly toward her training and care, so we can stay together and both continue to heal and grow.
