Hello, my name is Autumn. I’m on here on behalf of my best friends Austin Strawderman and Calley Smith, who has been through a lot the past 2 months. Calley went in for an emergency C-section, and baby Hays was born happy and healthy!
After coming home, Calley ended back at RMH with eclampsia, and her kidneys were failing. After about a week, they put her on dialysis. Her significant other, Austin, was by her side the whole time, supporting and helping.
After about two long weeks away from her 2 children, Hazel (3) and Hays (almost 1 month), Hays was sent out by ambulance for what looked like seizures, which was later confirmed. RMH then transferred Hays to Roanoke for what was a brain bleed. After numerous days in the hospital, Hays finally got to go home with some assistance of seizure meds!
About a week after he came home, his parents noticed that he wasn’t acting right and appeared to be having seizures again. Calley and Austin ended up taking him to RMH to be on the safe side, and he had swelling in the brain and COVID. Come to find out, he has an intraventricular hemorrhage that happened during birth, and currently, the spinal fluid in his brain isn’t going where it’s supposed to, so it’s causing pressure on his brain. He is currently back in Roanoke.
Unfortunately, Austin did lose his job due to being constantly in the hospital, and Calley is still having health issues. It has definitely been non-stop for these wonderful parents. Even though they are doing their best, they are struggling. I’m here today to try to raise money because they don’t know when they will get out of the hospital, and between having to be in the hospital and house bills, it’s starting to gain on them. Even if you can’t donate, please share!
