Hello, my name is Calista. On November 4th, I went into the ICU septic with Group B strep and staph infection in my bloodstream and heart. The infection also went to my eye, causing me to lose my vision. When I got there, they didn't think I was going to make it. After many antibiotics and many tests, they finally got it under control. As for my eye, they did test after test and did two injections of antibiotics in hopes that it would help. Unfortunately, the infection was so aggressive it didn't work. I spent almost a month in the hospital with the options of injections or eye removal surgery. When I decided that I wanted the injections, they unfortunately said that they didn't want to risk it because the infection attacked my eye so aggressively and my retina was so thin. They didn't want to inject it and cause the infection to spread. Surgery was the only option to prevent it from spreading and possibly going to my brain and causing a stroke. So, I went home for three days, and on Tuesday, November 25th, I had eye removal surgery. I'm currently still healing from the surgery and have been off work since November 4th. I currently have no income coming in and I'm not sure when I'll be able to go back to work. I have two little boys and one boy due in February, and I'm in need of help with some bills, food, etc. I understand that times are hard, and if you are not able to contribute, please share. I'm in desperate need of help. I work so hard for my babies, and this came out of nowhere unexpectedly. Thank you for your time and God bless!
