Update 10/01
We are ecstatic to announce that Calie was told at her last appointment that she is CANCER-FREE! She will continue to have check-ups every 3-6 months for 2 years and then further apart for up to 10 years. Therefore, this will be the last post on this website. We would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and financial contributions. We have been truly blessed! On a side note, we celebrated Calie and Mark’s nuptials in early September.

Update 3/31

Wow! God is good! And we are so thankful for all of you, too! Through your prayers and support, God is showing us His grace and comfort. This past weekend, Calie and I got together to go through some of her bills that are starting to come in. She could pay all of them, thanks to all of you, and still has leftovers to use for future bills. It is such a blessing not to have to worry about how to pay the bills as they come in, and she can focus on other needed things. One of those things is that she is having difficulty finding a doctor who is not only available but also willing to implement the treatment plan put forth by MD Anderson so she doesn’t have to travel back down there. Please pray with us that she can find the right oncologist for this as she is supposed to start treatment in a month.

Update 3/13
Praise the Lord! Whether God miraculously healed Calie or it was a misdiagnosis, we are praising the Lord! She doesn’t have the really bad cancer, Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer, but she does have Poorly Differentiated Thyroid Cancer. This is still a rapid cancer but with a much more favorable outcome especially since it has been identified earlier. The treatment is for her to wait 2 months for all the meds they put into her in Texas to leave the body. Then she will be on a special diet for 2 weeks in which she receives no iodine, which includes most salts. They will then do a three-day treatment with radioactive iodine. After a few checks with the results, she may need a few more rounds of this. The treatment can be done in Indiana if she finds a doctor willing to follow MD Anderson’s methods. We are so very grateful for all of your prayers, financial help, meals, and driving for us during this journey. As we continue on, we ask that you please continue lifting her up to the Lord. Thank you all!
~Courtney Morris

Update: Calie, Mark and her Mom Courtney are still in Houston, Texas and missing home. Lots of testing all this week until they can get a treatment plan soon. They did learn they may need to be there another week for continued testing.
Please continue to pray for the entire family as they manage this time away from home, living in a hotel room and Calie being poked and proded all week. Pray also for her sisters and father managing here in Delphi without them. More updates to come as we hear.

We are asking for prayers and financial help if you are able to help the beautiful 20-year-old Calie Morris and her wonderful family. Calie and her family have done ministry work her entire life, and Calie has a heart for service and education. Calie's father, Adam, is a local pastor, and her mother, Courtney, is getting her elementary teaching degree. She has two sisters, Cora and Lina. She just got engaged to her boyfriend, Mark, in November 2024, with plans to marry in September.
Calie was diagnosed in December 2024 with potential thyroid cancer, but the situation quickly escalated. Her surgeon removed part of her thyroid in hopes that was all that was needed. She was found to have three types of stage 4 cancer. The first is follicular carcinoma, which is the least aggressive of the 3. The second is poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma, which is more aggressive than the first but not as aggressive as the last. The third cancer is anaplastic thyroid carcinoma, which is the most aggressive and fast-spreading cancer.
Calie had a second surgery in January and had the rest of her thyroid removed. This is in hopes of removing all of the cancer, but they are not convinced that it has not spread to other parts of her body, so a lot more testing is happening. Surgically removing the cancer also does not mean she is in the clear and will still need treatment through chemotherapy or radiation. Due to the rarity of Anaplastic thyroid cancer in a 20-year-old (usually found in elderly patients), the treatment protocol is a challenge. She is en route to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas, from Indiana for a potential trial treatment.
Calie, Mark, and the Morris family are working together to pay for the copays, travel, and other expenses (though there are some stipends for the trial), but lost wages from missing work make life very challenging. If you are able to donate any amount, it would be greatly appreciated if you could help this family, especially Calie and Mark, as they start their life together.
Above all, we ask for prayers for wisdom, guidance, and peace for the family and the medical teams.
