I’m Ashley, and with Robert I run Calico Hearts Foster & Rescue. In August 2026, my friend Shannon and I walked into a hoarding situation and left committed to saving nearly 40 cats. That moment changed everything for me. Calico Hearts was born with no funding and no facility, just a determination to help cats who had nowhere else to go. Since then, Robert and I have personally rehomed 19 cats into loving, verified homes, and right now we are still caring for 16 more while we work to find them safe, permanent families. At the moment, I have 8 kittens in my home and Robert is caring for 8 adult cats in theirs. Every bag of food, every can of litter, and every vet visit has come directly out of our own pockets. We have reached a point where we cannot keep doing this alone, especially after a recent loss of income made our situation even harder. We are asking for help covering the basic, urgent costs of keeping these 16 cats safe and healthy while they wait for forever homes. Donations will go directly toward food and litter for 16 cats, vet care, vaccines, and spay/neuter, emergency medical needs, and basic supplies like bedding, carriers, and enrichment. Long term, we hope to build Calico Hearts into an established rescue in Grand Junction, Colorado, with a facility for overflow cats and a trap-neuter-return program for feral cats in the area. But right now, our focus is simple: keeping the cats in our care fed, protected, and moving toward a better future. If you are able to give, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you cannot donate right now, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much. Thank you for believing every cat deserves a chance.
