GoFundMe Update — Life at Home, Healing, and New Challenges
December, 2025.
We wanted to share an update now that Cale has been home for a little while, and to thank everyone again for the continued love and support. Coming home on October 15th was a blessing we prayed for during the darkest weeks in the hospital, but the chapter that comes after has brought its own challenges — physically, emotionally, and financially.
Cale has been working hard every single day since coming home. His schedule is full of follow-up appointments, swallow therapy, respiratory check-ins, and ongoing monitoring to make sure his recovery stays on track. Some days he feels stronger and more himself; other days are exhausting or unpredictable, but he continues to fight with so much determination.
Unfortunately, with all of this, we were also hit with another setback:
Cale lost his job because there was no work available for him to return to.
This has been incredibly difficult as he wants nothing more than to return to normal life, provide for our family, and regain his independence. He has been searching and applying to jobs every day — anything he can safely do while still healing — but he hasn’t had any luck yet.
In the meantime, they are trying to survive on only Jasmyn’s income, and it simply hasn’t been enough. They are struggling to stay afloat on bills, medical expenses, and basic living costs as they navigate this unexpected season.
Jasmyn is working 42–48 hours a week, while also being a full-time student, and now 6 months pregnant. They are doing everything they can to prepare for their daughter’s arrival — setting up her space, buying essentials, and trying to create stability — but it has become overwhelming as expenses keep growing while income keeps shrinking.
We are doing our best to stay strong and grateful, focusing on the miracle of how far Cale has come, but we also know we can’t do this next part alone. The support from this community is the only reason we made it through the hospital chapter, and we are praying for help again as we navigate this new and very real financial strain.
Every donation, every share, every message means more than we can ever express.
Thank you for continuing to walk this journey with us — for lifting us up, for believing in Cale’s recovery, and for helping hold us together as we prepare for the arrival of our baby girl.
From our hearts to yours,
Thank you.
****UPDATE 09/16****
-Although we knew this would be a rocky road to recovery, we were still not prepared for the setback we hit on Sunday, September 14th. Cale had been struggling with his breathing since about 1:00 a.m. and by 10:00 a.m., he was unable to get any oxygen to his organs. A rapid response and crash code were called. They were able to get him breathing by intubating and extracting a mucus plug which had formed and blocked his airway. He was moved back into the ICU and currently remains sedated and intubated. A repeat lumbar puncture was performed this morning which shows the antibiotics are effectively fighting the meningitis. However, due to him still unable to produce a productive cough, they are hesitant to remove the ventilator at this point. Today we went over possible next steps. While at this point, it is still kind of a game of wait and see, we do know whatever the next steps will be will cause an even longer recovery period than we could have imagined. Jenny and Jasmyn had both been hoping to return to work this week but that is clearly not in the cards for them at this point in time. Everybody's generosity has meant so much to us and we have been blown away by the kindness, concern and donations. Please continue to share as we have no idea when Cale will be able to return to work. Thank you all for the continued support.-
Just a few months ago, Cale Nash married the love of his life, Jasmyn. Shortly after, they were thrilled to learn they were expecting their first child, a baby girl.
With two full-time jobs and big dreams, they were building a life together — until everything changed in an instant.
In early August, while working long hours as an electrician in Arizona’s extreme summer heat, Cale suffered a heat stroke. He pushed through, continuing to work both his day job and his evening shift at Dairy Queen. But his health declined rapidly. On September 3rd, he developed a high fever and severe vomiting. By the next morning, he was barely responsive and was rushed to Urgent Care, then transferred immediately to the ER.
He was admitted to the hospital with dangerously low potassium, severe dehydration, and signs of sepsis. Despite our hopes for a simple recovery, his condition worsened. He was moved to the ICU, where doctors prepared him for a spinal tap in order to confirm a diagnosis.
On Sunday, September 7th, we got the devastating diagnosis: bacterial meningitis — a rare and life-threatening disease, which he had already been vaccinated against, with a 10–15% mortality rate. His doctor called it a miracle that he survived.
Cale has been in the hospital for over a week now. He remains very weak, still unable to swallow or fully clear his lungs, which makes him extremely uncomfortable. Yet through the fear and pain, we’ve seen glimmers of hope — brief moments of alertness and strength that remind us of his determination to fight.
Why We're Asking for Help:
Cale and Jasmyn have always worked hard to make ends meet. Jasmyn is a full-time receptionist and a student at DeVry, studying medical billing and coding. Cale works tirelessly as an electrician and fast food shift lead. They are doing everything right — but a medical crisis like this is impossible to plan for.
Even with insurance, the $3,500 deductible and out-of-pocket costs are overwhelming. And with both of them now unable to work — Cale due to his illness, and Jasmyn taking unpaid leave to be by his side — they’ve already fallen behind on bills.
Right now, we’re asking for help to cover their overdue rent so they don’t lose their home. Our goal of $5,000 will bring them current and give them some breathing room as Cale continues to recover.
They have a long road ahead, but we believe in their strength — and in the kindness of the community that surrounds them.
If you can give, please do. Every dollar makes a difference. If you can’t donate right now, please share this campaign with others.
Thank you for helping Cale, Jasmyn, and their growing family get through this crisis with hope and stability.
