Help Cal heal after surgery and chemotherapy
Hello dear friends, family, and loving community in Oakland and beyond. My name is Nina and I'm fundraising for my treasured friend Cal, who has to undergo surgery and chemotherapy this spring to treat cancer.
All who know Cal know what an amazing person they are: loving, generous, warm, wise, and hilarious. Often quite silly. A devoted parent and loyal, deeply caring friend. A tireless champion of trans rights and an advocate for social justice who believes in working every day to create a more kind, tolerant, and equitable world.
How beautiful it would be to live in the kind of world Cal seeks to build, where the stress of a medical emergency wouldn't be compounded by financial anxiety. Alas, we live in this world and that anxiety is real. Cal will have surgery in April and chemo shortly thereafter and will be unable to work for a couple of months. As a self-employed massage therapist and personal trainer, they will not be able to earn any income during this time and their medical expenses will be considerable. Their community aims to raise enough money to make these months of treatment and recovery as peaceful and restful as possible. These funds will be used to defray medical costs and support Cal during the months they will be unable to work.
Please join us and support this solo parent, friend, ally, engaged citizen, extreme goofball, power lifter, damn good massage therapist, and all-around spectacular human in their time of need. Together, we can ease this difficult period so our beloved Cal can be back in action.
