Hello everyone.. I never in a million years would have planned on myself creating a page like this. As I type this very sentence, I am in awe.
Reality is we each could be in this position & now it’s my family’s turn.
On Sunday Nov 25th of this year, my dad, Cal Vrbka went to the emergency room with side pain — this pain was enough to convince a man who hates doctors to get it checked out.
That night a cat scan was done along with blood work & the doctors suggested a colonoscopy to be done right away.
That Wednesday my dad had a routine colonoscopy done where we found a tumor that was almost blocking his colon. Surgery would be needed to remove the tumor.
Thursday, my dad had met with a cardiologist in Lincoln. The appointment was needed to ensure his heart was in condition to handle the surgery.
Friday, a stress test and echo scan was done. Results would decide if and when surgery would be scheduled.
Following Monday, Dec 3rd — the results of his heart scan came back good. Surgery scheduled for the 5th.
Wednesday, Dad had surgery & the tumor was removed. During surgery the doctor found concerning areas that needed to be sent in for further testing/biopsy.
Biopsy has come back & the reality at hand is that my dad has stage 4 metastatic cancer & treatment to rid this aggressive cancer is necessary.
Chemo treatments started January 8th and will continue every two weeks —during this time he is unable to work. This has not only has created a financial burden for him and his wife, but to anyone who knows my father — he doesn’t take “days off”.
If possible, please support my family and my dad by any means possible & pray for healing and patience.
Thank you to each and everyone one of you, from every member of my family & my dad.
