Help Caitlin OBrien w Polycythemia Vera treatment
Thank you to everyone who has donated and sent their love and prayers. I appreciate you supporting my journey through Polycythemia Vera and you're making my recovery and surgery possible. I am home now and recovering. It has been a struggle but your help and love is helping tremendously. I was pretty silent about everything for 3.5 years. I am home and working through the in between. I want to just go back to what I was able to do but realize it will take time. I am lucky to live in a small town where I have amazing friends and support and good doctors who are well known for the two main issues I am having to deal with.- Caitlin
Hello friends, family, and all others. Caitlin is a few weeks in to being hospitalized... started at AMC and we're now at UVM . There are great teams of doctors trying to figure out what's up and they're still not sure what is going on. ( this will be updated as we know) We're trying to fundraise to cover the medical bills to cover the stay and the future surgery that will be necessary in the coming weeks and her recovery. Anything and everything is appreciated. - Travis
For the past 3 years my sister Caitlin has been dealing with chronic illness. For her 30th birthday, she was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera, a rare form of blood cancer, that causes her body to make too many red blood cells which causes clots. This manifested in her intestines and she had to have 1/3 of her small intestine removed due to necrosis. Caitlin recovered from the surgery and she dealt with the medical debt and consequences herself. This time Caitlin is asking for help. Two weeks ago she was admitted to AMC with severe abdominal pain. A week later, she was transferred to UVM in Burlington. The hematologists and surgeons have concluded she needs surgery because of her chronic illness. Caitlin will be going home to await her surgery but will be unable to work. Thank you for any help you can offer. - Conor
