Hi, my name is Meg and I’m fundraising on behalf of my friends Emily and Ryan and their eldest daughter Caitlin.

Caitlin is a year eight student in Maffra. She was a very active 13 year old, constantly training at gymnastics and soccer until she developed extreme hip pain due to an abnormality with her hip socket, finally diagnosed as hip dysplasia, which has prevented her from doing so many of the things she loves.

Caitlin has battled severe chronic hip pain and been unable to do the things she loves for over twelve months with very little answers and seemingly no end in sight. Recently her condition has deteriorated to the point that her mobility is heavily impacted - she can no longer walk upstairs without assistance and relies heavily on crutches. after a meeting with Monash children’s hip specialists, it was agreed that Caitlin’s condition requires specialist surgery- so specialised that only three surgeons in Victoria currently perform this surgery.

This surgery will cost Caitlin’s family tens of thousands of dollars and the recovery will be very hard physically and mentally for Caitlin and will impact Emily and Ryan’s ability to work. Their work schedules have been disrupted this year with many expensive trips back and forth from Melbourne to different specialists.
