Help the Duffin’s

On December 6th my sister, Caitlin Duffin was thrown from her horse. She was taken to her
local hospital and then transferred to a Fort
Worth hospital. She shattered Lumbar 1 with pieces of the bone traveling throughout her
spinal cord. Emergency surgery was
performed which included spinal fusion, spinal cord decompression and bilateral nerve root
decompression. The surgeon made 12
different incisions with over 72 staples in
order to make the necessary repairs. Caity
spent 9 days in the hospital with her husband Nathan by her side. Life at home is very
different. Caity and Nathan have two
children, Teagan just had her second birthday and Jaxon is almost 6 months. She cannot pick up the babies for at least 6 months. She wears a back brace any time she is mobile and uses a walker to get around. She is regaining strength in her right leg even able to raise it up now.
Surgery and/or the injury has left her unable
to urinate. The doctors say that may take 3
months to recover. She requires 24 hour care. Caitlin and Nathan own their own business,
Country Canine Clips. It is unknown if and
when she will be able to return to work. They did not have insurance when the accident
happened and they will be facing a whole
other set of hurdles in the future. Would you
