Please consider helping Liam

My name is Caitlin. I’m a wife and Mom. My boys are my universe. As most of you know, our lives changed on 5/3/24. That morning I found Liam, unresponsive and blue. I began CPR and called 911 around 730am. The paramedics were able to revive him in the ambulance, and he was taken to Sentara Coliseum in Hampton, VA. He started seizing. By 930am, CHKD transport was picking us up, and off to PICU we went. He was placed in a therapeutic coma, where we all questioned what, why and how. He was placed in a therapeutic coma on 5/3 until 5/15. Liam was awake for his first birthday on 5/16. Dan and I were able to cuddle him on 5/23 for the first time since 5/3.

Liam has been diagnosed with bronchomalasia. He has had a trach placed, and requires assistance from a vent. This will be ongoing for years. I have to rearrange our home, and my career to fit Liam’s needs.

We are looking at another 6-7 weeks in the hospital. Of course I missed most of my last pay period. How can you go to work while your baby is in a coma? In addition, my car overheated as well and working on getting that fixed. The bills are piling up, and so are Liam’s needs. I have to totally re organize my house, get medical equipment, hire nursing, and still be a Mom to 8 year old Danny and try and be productive at work.

I understand that in this economy everything is a struggle. I have been told multiple times to try this and it has taken everything in me to swallow my pride and ask for help for my son and I. Thank you for any help.
