Help Caison Fight Leukemia

On Wednesday, our lives were turned upside down. Caison, our fearless, quad-riding boy who was just days away from starting kindergarten, was diagnosed with Leukemia. What started as a fever and vomiting quickly became a medical emergency. He was admitted to the Pediatric ICU, intubated, had a dialysis line and PICC line placed, started leukopheresis, underwent extensive imaging and labs, and had a lumbar puncture—all before receiving his first dose of chemotherapy last night.

Today, he was successfully extubated, but the road ahead is long. Caison will be at Children’s Hospital for at least a month, facing intensive treatments that no child—or parent—or sibling— should have to endure.
