Help Cairo Walk Again – Emergency Surgery Needed
We are reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for our beloved dog, Cairo.
We rescued Cairo from an unfortunate situation where we suspect he was dumped. At the time, we knew he had an injury to his leg, but we didn't realize how serious it was. After seeing a specialist and getting x-rays, we learned that his back left hip is dislocated, and his greater trochanter is fractured. Cairo has become a part of our family. He came into our lives during a very difficult time, shortly before we lost our 15-year-old Queensland Heeler. With his silly personality and loyal spirit, Cairo has helped us heal and learn to love again. Seeing him limp around, knowing he is uncomfortable is heartbreaking, especially knowing the fact that he was dumped, most likely for having the dislocated hip. Belgian Malinois are very active dogs, but right now he can’t do anything too strenuous, which has been incredibly hard on him and us.
After consulting with the vet and specialists, we’ve been told that surgery and rehabilitation will cost around $7,000. This includes the operation to repair the dislocation and fracture, post-op care, and physical therapy to help him recover and regain full use of his leg.
Unfortunately, this unexpected cost is more than we can manage on our own. That’s why we’re humbly asking for your support. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference and bring Cairo closer to recovery.
If you’re not able to donate, please consider sharing Cairo’s story. Every
share helps us reach someone who might be able to help.
With heartfelt thanks,
The Halko’s
