Help Caiden fight cancer!

Hi everyone, my name is Rebecca; and my sister Trisha and I really appreciate you taking the time to come visit our page.

This is a story about my very best friend in the world, and her beautiful son Caiden.  Have you ever met a stranger and immediately became friends like you’ve known one another for a lifetime?  Well that’s how I met my best friend in the world Kamisha, freshman year college chemistry and five minutes into class we were inseparable.  And I have been so fortunate to call her my best friend for the past 23 years.  She is truly one of the most selfless, loving, caring, empathetic and kind human beings you will ever know.

Five years ago Kamisha had a beautiful baby boy, who she so fittingly named Caiden, which means “fighter”.  Caiden is an incredibly sweet, happy, smart and fun-loving little boy.  He loves to be outside.  He loves to go for walks and go on play dates.  He loves the zoo and aquarium and his favorite movies are Finding Dory and Lion Guard.

About six months ago Caiden started getting sick and gradually over the past few months his illnesses were getting more and more frequent.  Kamisha took him to the doctor’s and often she was told it was a “virus” and “he will be fine”, and they were sent on their way.  Then, last month Caiden got an extremely painful virus called shingles; something that a 5-year-old should never ever get, yet still the doctors were left scratching their heads and sent them home with a prescription.

Finally, after months of watching her son in pain and illness, Kamisha had had enough and demanded he have a full panel work up with a specialist.  The very next day, sweet Caiden was diagnosed with leukemia.  This sweet little boy has been through hell and back for many months with various illnesses, and is still managing to smile and sing and laugh.…he is the true epitome of a fighter.

And now comes the fight of his life.  With the diagnosis of B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, his treatment plan consists of aggressive chemotherapy for the first 4 weeks, followed by 8 months of phase two chemotherapy, and 2.5 more years of maintenance therapy.

Kamisha is a single mother who is raising Caiden on her own.  At this very moment, Caiden needs his mommy by his bedside for the next 8 months.   To have to think about anything else but being there for her son is excruciating.  A mother shouldn't have to choose between working to keep a roof over their head, or being at her son's bedside.

It is my hope that all my friends, family, and even "strangers"  when hearing of Kamisha's life situation, something touches you within.  This is something we all share in common and is one of the most amazing and beautiful attributes of being human… that we have heart…a spirit within us…that moves us to want to help in any capacity we can and share what we have …

In that spirit there lies a  mystery and beauty …that giving is a gift and reward in and of itself!   Simply put, it brings us joy…and binds us all together….may we all see that we have so much to be thankful for…and may peace and love always be realized.

We feel deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks for your donations so that Kamisha doesn’t have to worry about expenses and can focus on being there totally for her sweet boy.
