Cafe Rothem: A Coffee Shop for the Community
Donation protected
Café Rothem’s mission is to share Christian culture in the local area. During the week we operate as a café, and on Sundays we are a church. We are a community center for people young and old, and we hold open mics monthly where people can share their experiences of the American dream. Our aim is to create a safe space to experience Christian culture and relationships.
But in March of 2020, the covid-19 pandemic caused a recession and we were no longer able to support the local community, and operating our business became far too difficult. We received very little support from our landlord during this time.
Through our operations in 2020, our family became exposed to Covid-19 and I was hospitalized for 25 days in December and I am still in recovery at home. We still have to keep our doors open, but we are unable to operate at full capacity. My wife operates the business alone and at the current state of the economy our revenue is only about $2500 a month. Please help us. Including the rent of $4000, our operating expenses total $5,500.
Based on the growth of our community, we believe that our café is a special place that serves a much-needed purpose in Duluth. As we have struggled in the past year, we ask that you help us with our rent expenses for 2020. Each month costs roughly $4000, totaling $48,000 for the year. We will use your donations for only our operations, and not for our personal expenses.
Please help us in growing our community in the name of the Kingdom.
