Hi, my name is Jae and I’m a veteran of the Canadian armed forces who experienced multiple sexual assaults and racial discrimination and harassment.
For decades, members of the Canadian Armed Forces particularly those from racialized and marginalized communities have endured discrimination, harassment, and exclusion while serving our country. The CAF has finally issued a long-overdue apology for these harms for October 30.
But there’s a painful irony: those who were most affected including current and former CAF members are being told they must pay their own way to attend. Travel, meals, and accommodations are not being covered.
This isn’t just an event; it’s a moment of truth, healing, and accountability. Yet many of the very people who deserve to be in that room simply can’t afford to go.
I’m setting up this GoFundMe to help make sure that no one is left out of this historic moment because of financial barriers. True reconciliation means inclusion, not exclusion.
Your support will go directly toward covering travel and basic expenses for those who’ve carried these burdens in silence for far too long.
Because healing and justice should never come with a price tag.
