Caesar is a 7 year old Cane Corso who was rescued May 2015. Having multiple previous owners in a short time, Caesar was finally able to find a place to permanently call home.  In November of last year, Caesar was diagnosed with diabetes. We've been working on regulating the insulin however, January 12th we received some devastating news. Caesar has lost his vision due to the diabetes. The vets said it could happen drastically and it did. He went entirely blind within 3 or 4 days. January 9th, I noticed a cloudiness in Caesar's eyes and unfortunately my worst thoughts came true. Caesar is very scared now because he can't see where he is. January 15th we took Caesar to an opthalmologist to see if there was anything we could do. The opthalmologist gave us a lot of hope. She said either we can give Caesar eye drops for the rest of his life and he will still be blind, OR they can perform cataract surgery which has a 90% success rate and he will perfectly see again. BUT the surgery is very expensive. First he needs a number of tests done to make sure he's a good candidate. The tests are $1,562. The surgery itself will cost $5,749 . So a total of $7,331. We love our Caesar so much!!!! My boyfriend and I are overwhelmed and are still trying to process this terrible news. As of now, Caesar is scared and very confused. As you all can imagine, it is extremely difficult to walk a blind dog the size of a person. Seeing how depressed he is right now, and the worry of him injuring himself in a fall, our main concern is getting his life back to normal. We hope with any of your help, that will make it possible.
