Filmmaker C. Yard is in the final stages of producing her debut short film, Khalil, A Family Saga I—a sharp, heartfelt dramedy that explores vulnerability, trauma, and intergenerational healing.

In the film, Khalil confides in his longtime friend Ryan as he contemplates trying psilocybin mushrooms for the first time. What begins as a casual conversation quickly unravels into a Pandora’s box of Khalil’s long-buried fears surrounding psychedelics, pushing him to confront deeply traumatic experiences from his past.

While writing Khalil, C. Yard felt the story world expanding. Two additional short films emerged—each building toward a feature-length film centered on the enigmatic and powerful secondary character, Aunt Jane.
