Help Byron Syphrett beat lung cancer!

Hi, my name is Charlotte. My best friend is going through something no one our age should go through - she is facing the possibility of losing her husband before she's even 40.

Byron Syphrett may be the most giving man I know. If you are on this page, hopefully, you know exactly what I mean. Who hasn't spent a late night with Byron, discussing everything from the problems of the world to your own personal issues? He's so easy to talk to, so understanding and never judgemental. He has a child-like energy, he's Godly. A family man. Genuine. Couldn't lie if he tried. He is the type of man who would do anything for anyone. He would, quite literally, give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

But now, Byron is the one who needs help. He's been diagnosed with pulmonary carcinoma, specifically adenocarcinoma. As far as lung cancers go, this is not the worst one to have. But it has metastisized, and he has a long road ahead of him. As does his wife, Melissa, and their two kids, Madison (14) and Carter (7). Money is only one problem on a long list of issues families deal with when they are given this diagnosis, but it's one we can help with.

Right now, Byron is in the hospital while the doctors try to figure out how best to deal with his pain. He had a radiation treatment this morning on the portion of his spine with a tumor and it caused a great deal of pain. As Melissa is fond of saying, "Byron is an anomaly!" as they have struggled in how best to handle it. He got a new doctor added to his team that has some great ideas for how to help him manage. But this is before he's even into the meat and potatoes of the cancer treatment.

While he's in the hospital and surely on the arduous road ahead, Melissa is missing out on her co-parent, her better half, her partner in crime. The other half of her heart.

Whatever lays ahead, Byron and Melissa will face it with the greatest of courage and stamina. But as their friends, we know it's a daunting road they face. The world is a much better place with Byron in it. Thank you for helping him and his family fight to keep him here.

**UPDATE** Byron is out of the hospital and home with his family. BUT his insurance company is currently DENYING radiation treatments!! So each of our dollars will go a long, long way.
