Jack's fundraising journey.

I'm Scott & this is why I'm fundraising. Thank you for taking the time to read my page & why I'm doing this.

My close friend Callum on the 17th of July 2021 welcomed his son Jack into the world. Along with his partner Janet they were excited to have their first son and for all the amazing and also difficult times having a new baby brings.

It wasn't until Jack was thirteen months old when they began to notice he wasn't achieving the milestones set for a child his age. After a few weeks of fighting with doctors and medical staff for answers to a problem none of them could answer, eventually Jack was diagnosed with Pallister Killian Syndrome - or PKS as it's more commonly referred. PKS is a very rare condition that is characterized by extremely weak muscle tone (hypotonia) in infancy and early childhood, intellectual disability, distinctive facial features, sparse hair, areas of unusual skin colouring and other birth defects. You can read a little more about it here.. https://www.rarechromo.org/media/information/Reports/Pallister%20Killian%20Syndrome%20Study%20Weekend%20Report%20FTNW.pdf

Any money donated will go directly towards helping Jack. The main driving force is to fund a particular type of bed. One that will allow Jack to be comfortable as he grows and at the same time allow his parents Callum & Janet to look after him properly and safely in his own home as he gets older.

Does Jack & I want your money for nothing? No. Over the next six months I'm going to be taking on three endurance challenges unlike anything I've ever attempted before.

First - 11/05/2024
I'll be heading to Mallorca in Spain to do my first ever triathlon. A 70.3 mile Ironman across the Island starting and ending in Alcudia.

Second - 14/07/2024
Down to Wales for another 70.3 mile Ironman, this time in sunny Swansea.

Third and final - 05/10/2024
I'll be taking on my hardest challenge to date. A 91k Ultra Marathon from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I've run Marathons before but this will be by far the longest distance I've ever done in one go. Spurred on by Jack who'll be waiting for me at finish line.

Thanks again for taking the time to read our story. It will mean more than you know to all of us if you could donate any amount whatsoever. Or if you can't afford at the moment for any reason then even sharing the page will go a long way.

Finally, I'd never hear the end of it if I didn't mention him. Nobody, and I mean nobody can achieve anything like this alone. I don't intend to do it any differently. So, my running mate, my teammate at football, my business partner & one of my best mates in the world Paul 'Paulie' Steenson will be with me every step of the way.

Thanks
Scott
