Help Ms. Aurora & Ms. Muffin Buy a Car

Donation protected
I am Anya a 15 year old student in Cary, NC who is trying to help Ms. Aurora our dog sitter.

We met Ms. Aurora when we brought our havanese puppy, Cairo, home. We needed someone to care for him while my parents worked and my sister and I were at school. One of our family friends introduced us to Ms. Aurora saying 'I will not trust our family dog with anyone other than Ms. Aurora'. Since then, Ms. Aurora has become Cairo's part-time caregiver and our family's trusted friend.

Ms. Aurora came to the mainland US from Puerto Rico, with her husband Bernardo, in 2003. Just prior to their arrival, Bernardo was diagnosed with cancer, and just after moving to mainland US, unfortunately Ms. Aurora was diagnosed with breast cancer as well. She is now a cancer survivor, but sadly, her husband Bernardo of many years passed on. As it often happens, with serious illnesses and their recuperation Ms. Aurora used all of her and her husband’s savings to overcome and beat her cancer. The cancer did leave her weak and frail.  Once she became a little able, she turned her love for dogs into a way for her to make a living. Ms. Aurora picks up the dogs from their homes, cares for them and brings them back each day. This is a highly valued service for working dog owners.

While she has no family in North Carolina, she has built a small community amongst the people whose dogs she cares for and her cancer support group friends. When COVID-19 struck in March 2020, months went by when people were working from home and did not need anyone to care for their dogs. Due to her cancer-caused compromised immunity, Ms. Aurora had to be extremely careful. Ms. Aurora had no income at all for several months and added to that, her aging car developed mechanical problems and stopped working. The mechanic said the 17-year-old car was not fixable. This car was her lifeline to making an income and to successfully living independently in our community. Without a working car, she is unable to pick dogs and unable to continue taking care of our dogs.  This set back with her car prevents her from selectively and carefully maintaining social relationships at a time where she needs this support the most.  Ms. Aurora currently only has the company of a 4 year old havanese Ms. Muffin.

This GoFundMe page is to raise money to help Ms. Aurora buy a reliable car which will help her get back on her feet, earn a living and continue to live her life independently.

I appeal to the softer and generous side of all of you to kindly help Ms. Aurora through your donations so that she may buy a reliable car. Every dollar that you donate towards this goal is very appreciated.
