My mother was laid to rest in February. Walking away from her casket I noticed a temporary burial marker with several stuffed animals lying there. It was for a little girl who had died over a year before. She was Maizee's age. Although my own loss was fresh, my heart ached for the family who's loss I could not begin to imagine. 

I returned the next day to “visit” my mom before flying home and I saw someone at the little girl's grave. It was her father.  He was laying on her grave sobbing, playing her music and talking to her. It was at that moment, my mom spoke to me, and I knew I needed to help this family.  No one's baby should go without a headstone.

I learned from the Director of the cemetery that they had no headstone on order. The Director also found out they could not afford a headstone at this time. The child had been very sick, and spent two months in a children’s hospital in Kansas City, where she later died of pneumonia. Even though both of her parents worked, everything they earn goes towards her hospital bills.

The cemetery worked with the family and came up with a beautiful design for this little girl’s headstone. Please help me give this little girl a permanent memorial for her family. My mom would not have let this go, and neither will I.  All of the funds raised will go towards the headstone.  If by the grace of God we have more, it will go towards her hospital bills.
