Help Butterfly with Breast Cancer

Hi, my name is Kevin, and I'm fundraising for a beautiful soul, Butterfly (Angela), who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. We are trying to raise enough money to cover her double mastectomy surgery next month, September 10th.

I met Butterfly at my local YMCA gym when I was living in Raleigh, NC. I had joined a 5:30am Masters Swim class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On these mornings I would wake up at 5am and make it to the gym still half asleep. As I entered the gym one day, I heard Butterfly start singing from across the room "GOOD MORRNINNG Kevin, GOOD MORRNINNG!" It certainly caught me by surprise and raised my spirits to know that someone was sitting at the front desk of the gym, happy to see me in the morning even before the sun had risen. I could feel her heart as I walked through those doors. Week after week, I was greeted with the same sing-song salutation, and I began looking forward to hearing her beautiful voice and catching up with her before and after swim class.

Butterfly is a single mother trying to keep her son PJ in college at the Living Arts College despite having been diagnosed with breast cancer. As an employee of Home Goods, she has been affected by the pandemic financially (having her working hours reduced to 2 days a week, without benefits), and unfortunately she does not have the funds needed for the double mastectomy surgery ($7300). In order for her to proceed with this life-saving surgery, she will need to secure this amount of money a week before the September 10th surgery. I'm asking the broader community if we can please rally behind Butterfly to raise this money in time for her surgery next month. With your support, whatever amount big or small, I'm hoping we can help give back to someone who has given her community so much with her amazing heart and enduring kindness.
